Structural NDT Inspections

Our Cspect engineers recently carried out a three-day NDT campaign at EDR Shipyard in Antwerp. They inspected various ship components to ensure structural integrity and support maritime safety.

The work included examinations of welds on insert plates, piping systems, and HFO tank repairs, as well as quality assurance for installations for a bulbous bow and echo sounder flange.

To verify the quality of these repairs and installations, we applied various techniques:

  • MT (Magnetic Testing): Surface inspections of welds on insert plates of HFO tanks, and the bulbous bow.

  • UT Weld (Ultrasonic Testing): Volumetric testing of structural welds.

Through these inspections, Cspect confirmed the quality of the repairs and installations, contributing to the structural reliability and safe operation of the vessel.
